Kovacica wind farm has obtained the status of a privileged power producer

The 104.5MW Kovacica wind farm has obtained the status of a privileged power producer as the first completely new power plant facility which is connected to the electricity transmission system after almost three decades.

The project owner is Enlight Renewable Energies, an Israeli company engaged in the construction of renewable energy planta, and the management of the project and construction was entrusted to New Energy Solutions.

The Kovacica wind farm comprises of 38 General Electric 2.75-120 type wind turbines, which are connected to 33/220 kV substation of the Kovačica wind farm via 6 electric circuits and are connected to the transmission system of Serbia via the HV switchyard and 220 kV power transmission line¸ New Energy Solutions says in its press release.

The implemented project value is 189 million euros, financed by the consortium consisting of EBRD, Erste Group and Erste Bank Serbia, covered by Euler-Hermes ECA.

The wind farm in Kovacica will reduce the annual CO2 emissions in Serbia by about 247,000 tons and contribute to Serbia’s goal of raising the share of energy consumption from renewable sources to 27 percent in 2020.
