The factory, operated by Nidec Electric Motor Serbia, will produce electric motors for power steering and drive motors for hybrid vehicles. The building, covering 59,760 m2, was established with a subsidy of 8.9 million euros from the Serbian government, as part of an investment worth approximately 250 million euros.
In the initial phase, 250 workers will be employed, with plans to expand employment to 1,000-2,000 people once production reaches full capacity.
The opening ceremony was attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, government ministers, representatives from Nidec, and the city of Novi Sad. Vučić emphasized the significance of Japanese investments for Serbia, citing the substantial trade exchange of 320 million euros between the two countries.
The investment aligns with Nidec’s long-term strategy and serves as the first step towards establishing the European industrial park Nidec.
